Whtsqr is the work of Guy Morton.
Guy is a visual artist, playwright, singer and songwriter. Guy was born in the wheat belt of Western Australia but crossed the Nullabor and now lives in Melbourne.
Guy aims to write intelligent and catchy pop songs that find meaning in everyday situations, the mundane often giving way to abstract philosophical ideas mid-song. Alienation and a sense of emptiness are recurring themes, but are tempered by a strong pop sensibility.
Guy is influenced by other pop songwriters, including Elvis Costello, Julian Cope, Ben Folds, Neil Finn, Chrissie Hynde, Charles Jenkins, Mark Seymour and Ben Gibbard (Death Cab for Cutie). If you like any or all of these you may find new songs to love in Whtsqr’s music.
Whtsqr couldn’t happen without the assistance of some talented people who come along for the ride. Thanks. You know who you are.
